EJ Nduka def. Adrian Quest

I'm still stunned Nduka got released from WWE last year. He's the type of guy you'd think Vince McMahon would love and it's not like he's bad in the ring. In fact, it's quite the opposite; he's been impressive in the ring any time I've seen him in action and this was no exception. WWE definitely dropped the ball by letting him go, but their loss has been MLW's gain. This was a solid showcase for him and I'm looking forward to him continuing to progress.

Mecha Wolf def. Extreme Tigre

Tigre wrestled on the show just last week, while Wolf is one-half of the NWA World Tag Team Champions with Bestia 666, so that's how I'm familiar with him. This was one of those matches that meant nothing because MLW viewers likely aren't aware of either guy and no reason was given as to why they were fighting. That said, if was this supposed to be all about the in-ring action, at least they delivered on that front. This was a quality contest while it lasted.

AAA Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo, Octagon Jr. and Laredo Kid def. MLW National Openweight Champion Alex Kane, Villano III Jr. and Rey Horus

This was the perfect main event to close out the Azteca series. Yes, it was completely random, but this was a very enjoyable sprint with everyone looking great. Vikingo specifically stood out and looked like the biggest star of the bunch, even more so than Kane. Speaking of Kane, he couldn't get along with his partners and that's ultimately cost them the victory in the end. I don't know that it needed nearly 20 minutes, but I appreciate that it was never boring.

Overall Show

This was one of the better editions of Azteca in the last month with above-average wrestling throughout the hour. Unfortunately, it once again lacked major storyline development beyond some of the stuff we got backstage. That's been the biggest knock against these Azteca shows in that they've focused too much on spotlighting the local talent instead of its own roster. On the bright side, Fusion will be back next week, so hopefully the shows will become a bit more meaningful.
