Star Roger def. Cosmos
This was another Fusion match where I knew nothing about either competitor aside from what the commentators said about them, but I enjoyed the action and thought both guys impressed. Unfortunately, the crowd sounded almost completely quiet for this. I'm not sure what the reason for that was since they were into other matches with non-MLW wrestlers on other episodes, unless the taping went too long and they found it hard to care about a match with no meaning or stakes.
MLW National Openweight Champion Davey Richards def. SB KENTo
Richards is making the rounds right now as National Openweight champ and is the perfect person to be having great matches with people from all over the place with the title on the line. I expected this to last a little longer, but what we got from them was entertaining. KENTo had a very good showing and was made to look credible in defeat. Richards made it clear in his post-match interview that he has unfinished business with former champ Alex Kane.
I appreciate MLW's effort to squeeze as many video packages into the show as possible, but it's gotten to a point where the show consists more of those than it does actual wrestling. A bit of a better balance would be nice. That said, the two matches we got this week were well worked and held my interest despite me knowing very little about any of the guys except Richards, obviously. Taya Valkyrie vs. Lady Flammer for the MLW Women's World Featherweight Championship is advertised for next week along with Mance Warner vs. Mads Krugger.
