MLW Fusion Review - December 8, 2022

Samoan SWAT Team (Lance Anoa'i and Juicy Finau) def. Mark Davidson and Angel Fashion

Davidson and Fashion represented Puerto Rico here. I'm not familiar with either guy, and they didn't have much time to impress because this was kept short and sweet and was basically booked like a squash for Samoan SWAT Team. However, I'm not complaining because they have momentum right now and I'm all for them racking up wins. Willie Mack sat in on commentary and went face-to-face with Jacob Fatu afterward, so they'll go one-on-one next week.

MLW World Tag Team Champion EJ Nduka def. Sultán del Aire

Although I liked what Nduka was doing as a babyface (and we still have no idea where his partner Calvin Tankman stands on his actions), I do dig the edge he has as a heel. This was another extended squash with Nduka dominating Aire for the three minutes this lasted for. Alexander Hammerstone emerged afterward to brawl with Nduka ahead of their upcoming championship clash.

Shun Skywalker def. Myron Reed to Win the MLW World Middleweight Championship

Similar to Davidson and Fashion, I know nothing abut Skywalker, but I thought the commentators did a nice job of explaining to viewers his background and why he's a special talent. He lived up to the hype and had an awesome outing here. This was very entertaining and they made every minute matter by keeping the pace consistent throughout. Skywalker taking the title legitimately surprised me, so I appreciate them not making the outcome so predictable.

Overall Show

These Super Series editions of MLW Fusion have had more storyline significance than I originally thought they would, which has added to my enjoyment of the episodes. I'm all for them using fresh faces (especially with the roster feeling as bare as it does right now), but that doesn't matter if there aren't any ongoing feuds. Thankfully, MLW has been delivering that in recent weeks and I thought this was a solid piece of business on the whole with an above-average main event for the second straight week.
