MLW World Middleweight Champion Myron Reed def. KC Navarro and Arez in a Three-Way Match
Even after watching MLW for the last nine months, I still don't feel like I know much about Reed. He's very talented in the ring, but he hasn't been the most exciting champion in recent months. That said, this was an enjoyable, well-wrestled opener. I would have preferred to see Navarro take the title because he has star potential to me, but at least Reed seems to be building toward something with Davey Richards.
Los Maximos def. Jaden Valo and Chris Cage
Maximos' opponents weren't formally announced, but based on what the commentators said, I believe those were their names. At any rate, this marked Maximos' first MLW match in 18 years. I know nothing about them, but their offense was extremely impressive here. They made it clear in their post-match interview that they have their sights set on the MLW World Tag Team Championship, so I'm looking forward to them facing Power and Hustle.
Jacob Fatu def. Mads Krugger in a Weapons of Mass Destruction Match
This rivalry has been going on for so long that I've been ready for both men to move on for a while, but I will say that the stipulation fit the feud. It wasn't as chaotic as I was expecting, but some of the spots with the weapons were well done. All in all, it was a perfectly solid main event, but nothing that will be remembered in the long run. Fatu winning was the right call as he can now hopefully move on to bigger and better things.
This entire edition of Fusion was built around the gimmick main event, but I honestly didn't think there was anything remarkable about it. I actually thought the opener was more entertaining. Despite the main event not living up to the hype for me, this was still a quality show with everything serving a purpose and the hour flying by. It was also announced that Alexander Hammerstone will defend the MLW World Heavyweight Championship against Richard Holliday at Kings of the Coliseum next month in what's being billed as the season finale of Fusion.
