Miranda Gordy def. Rok-C
The timing of this show was perfect because although this was taped a month or two ago, it was actually announced earlier today that Rok-C has officially joined WWE. She's a former ROH Women's World Champion and has also had matches in AEW and IMPACT. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed by Gordy here whatsoever. This was a fairly flat match that the crowd didn't seem to care about. I'm a Rok-C fan, but it made sense for Gordy to win if they plan on using her again.
TJP def. Buddy Matthews
As the commentators alluded to, both of these men are former WWE Cruiserweight Champions. 205 Live is actually where Matthews did some of his best work in my opinion back in 2018 and 2019. They worked well together, and although I was expecting a bit of a faster pace and for them to really take it to that next level down the stretch, this was still an enjoyable main event. Much like the opener, TJP winning was logical since he's sticking around and Matthews is now in AEW.
This show was obviously light on in-ring action, but I did like a lot of the backstage segments and vignettes that aired throughout the episode, specifically the in-depth look at Alexander Hammerstone's backstory. Where was that months ago when he won the MLW World Heavyweight Championship? Nonetheless, the appearances of Matthews and Rok-C made this a notable edition of Fusion. Both were one-offs because they've since signed with other promotions, but it's cool that MLW is making the most of its "open door" policy. Male time for Matthews vs. TJP and that Hammerstone promo.
