Griffin McCoy def. "Hot Sauce" Tracy WilliamsLike most newcomers on Fusion, McCoy received no real introduction, so I automatically assumed Williams was going over. Thus, McCoy winning was a pleasant surprise since Williams is an established name, but it's all a matter of how this is followed up. Is McCoy signed to an MLW deal and when will we see him again? As a match, though, this was well wrestled and McCoy had a solid showing, but I'd like to see more from him as a character and on the mic. MLW World Women's Featherweight Champion Janai Kai def. Riley Krowe (Non-Title)Kai will be accompanied by Salina de la Renta going forward it seems, which is smart because it establishes her as someone important right off the bat. I mean, she won the title in what I believe was her MLW debut, so they should be doing everything to make her feel like a big deal. Thus, booking this like a squash was the right call, and I thought the referee stoppage finish was a nice touch. The Bomaye Fight Club (Mr. Thomas and O’Shay Edwards) def. The Mane EventMLW's tag team division has little depth at this point, especially with The Samoan SWAT Team recently departing the company, but Bomaye Fight Club and Mane Event are two talented teams and they had a solid match here. It didn't seem to serve much of a purpose as there was nothing at stake, but at least it showcased both teams and furthered Bomaye Fight Club's momentum. Maybe they can capture the MLW World Tag Team Championship soon to add more gold to the group? Overall ShowA contract signing between Alex Kane and Jacob Fatu for their MLW World Heavyweight Championship clash at Fightland was advertised throughout the episode, and although we technically got it at the end, it took place backstage and lasted less than a minute and I don't think the contract was ever actually signed. All in all, this was an adequate episode that set the stage for the upcoming Fightland and One Shot events, but there just isn't a lot worth getting excited about right now with the product and Fusion feels skippable most weeks.
