![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews In what was New England Championship Wrestling's final show of 2013, “Unwrapped” emanated from Beverly's Cove Community Center on December 6. Jam packed with six marquee matches and four different championships up for grabs, the event surely ended the year on a high note for NECW. Headlining the event was a blockbuster six-man tag team match, as Antonio “The Promise” Thomas and “Asylum” Nick Shepard joined forces with Slick Wagner Brown to take on the treacherous trio of Jeremy Prophet, Genesis and NECW Heavyweight Champion Sean Burke. Another featured match on the card saw “The Masshole” Mike McCarthy receive one more match for the NECW Television Championship against Johnny Thunder. In a last ditch effort, McCarthy scored the three count on Thunder to capture the prestigious prize. However, it won't be long before his longtime rival Jason Rumble gets his rightful shot at the title. ![]() In other action, NECW Tag Team Champions “That Guy” Scotty Slade and “The Shure Thing” Mark Shurman put their straps on the line against Beau Douglas and Brickhouse Baker. Although the dynamic duo had a strong showing against the tag champs, it was Slade and Shurman who ultimately walked out with their titles intact. It was also announced at the event that NECW will be returning to Beverly's Cove Community Center on Saturday, Jan. 11 with “Snowbrawl”. The main event match will feature Burke defending his NECW Heavyweight Championship against Brown, and other exciting action. Tickets are available for only $20 at the door and $15 if you order in advance. Visit necw.tv for further information. |
