NWA PowerrrSurge Review - October 25, 2022

Anthony Andrews def. Traxx

I've Traxx in action a time or two on the northeast independent wrestling scene. I assume he only appeared here to put over Andrews. However, Andrews hasn't been positioned as anyone important so far, so it was difficult to care about this contest, especially with a much smaller crowd in attendance. This was a fairly basic albeit boring bout and I'd be surprised to see this victory actually lead to something for Andrews.

Eric Jackson def. Sodapop

Yes, the dude's name was Sodapop. I'm sure there's more ridiculous ring names out there, but that one is pretty dumb. Jackson has only ever been utilized as an enhancement guy in the NWA, but him winning here was a safe bet considering we've never seen Sodapop before. This was a totally serviceable match designed to give Jackson a rare win, but there wasn't much to it otherwise.

Rolando Freeman def. KC Roxx

Although I'm no fan of Freeman, there's no denying his shtick is over with the NWA audience, so it makes sense for him to be featured as much he has been lately. It was also logical for him to beat someone like Roxx, who is on the smaller side as well and has been positioned as a loser in most of his matches. This was fine for what it was and Freeman continues to build momentum with another win.

Jax Dane def. Sal The Pal

I'm not sure who fans were supposed to cheer for in this given both guys are heels. Sal was the babyface by default, but I certainly don't look at The Miserably Faithful as fan favorites. He attempted to fight from underneath, but unlike Freeman earlier in the episode, he fell short. The best part about this was that killer clothesline Dane won with. Props to Sal for selling that as well as he did.

Overall Show

This was a Velvet After Dark edition of PowerrrSurge. I didn't care for the concept for the first time and I thought this was equally stupid and a waste of time. The PowerrrSurge shows rarely feature anything of note and this was no different, but this installment was especially pointless. The matches were mediocre and the backstage segments with The Beautiful People weren't entertaining. The only positive of this show was that it was only around 34 minutes long.
