Gaagz the Gymp def. BLK Jeez

Yes, that's how they're spelling "Gymp" now, unless that was always how they spelled it and I just missed it. Nonetheless, Jeez and Austin Idol started off the show in an interview with Kyle Davis where nothing of note was said. The match that followed was also uneventful, but I appreciate that they kept the stupid shenanigans from Gymp to a minimum. He's won a fair amount of matches in recent months, so I wasn't shocked by the result here. The Gymp stuff does nothing for me personally, but they're really trying to get him over as a fan favorite.

Magic Jake Dumas def. AJ Cazana

It appeared at one point they were going to push Dumas with all the wins he was racking up on NWA programming, but then he lost a string of random matches and I gave up on the idea of him being positioned as a serious threat. I'm glad he bounced back with a win here, but it will take more than that for him to get fully back on track. This was a decent match for as long as it lasted.

NWA World Women's Tag Team Champions Pretty Empowered def. The Hex

This was a rematch from when Pretty Empowered beat The Hex for the tag titles at the Alwayz Ready pay-per-view last month. I'm not sure why the rematch had to happen on NWA USA and not on Powerrr, but it did make for a notable main event on this show. It wasn't always pretty (no pun intended), but I loved that they worked with such a sense of urgency as well as intensity in this outing because it showed The Hex desperately wanted their belts back. Keeping this on the shorter side was also a wise call.

Overall Show

I actually like the shorter editions of NWA USA because there's always a match that be cut when they follow the three-match format and that was once again the case here. The middle match was pretty forgettable, but at least Dumas came away from it with a win. I wasn't a fan of the opener, either, but it was serviceable for what it was. The main event was easily the best part, especially since it isn't often titles are defended on this show. That might be worth checking out, but the rest of the show is not.
