By RJ Marceau What’s up guys, it’s RJ Marceau back on Next Era for another article. In this article I am going to discuss my trip to SummerSlam. My girlfriend bought us tickets to SummerSlam for my birthday. I was so excited since this was my first time going to New York. The best news was about a month before the event she surprised me by getting me VIP tickets to the Seth Rollins meet and greet. I was so excited to meet my favorite WWE superstar and couldn’t wait to go. So we left my house around 5:30 on that Saturday to drive to Connecticut to take the train into Brooklyn. When we got to Brooklyn and took the escalator out of the Subway the Barclays Center was right in front of us. It set in that I made it to SummerSlam. After waiting for 3 hours for the meet and greet they let us in the arena. We got VIP wristbands and went up the stairs. Team PCB was still at the table signing autographs, which was pretty cool to see them. The signing was at 3:00 and we saw Roman Reigns walk by. Obviously the Rollins fans booed him out of the VIP suite. It was funny because it actually ticked off Roman. We waited about 5 minutes and up walks “The Man” Seth Rollins. Our line was going nuts. I waited about 10 minutes till it was my turn. Seth was very nice and greeting and commented on my new Never Shuts Up t-shirt. We took a picture and then I shook his hand to thank him for coming out. He said no problem man and I walked out. This was the first superstar I have ever met. After the meet and greet I went back to my friends house in Connecticut so I didn’t have to go back home and drive all the way back. The next day I met up with Graham and John at Grand Central around 2:30. We talked a lot on the train ride in and got to the arena around 4:00. We waited in line for about an hour and a half until they let us in. The first bout between Sheamus and Orton was one of there better matches. The New Day was electric in the Barclays Center and their rendition of Jay Z’s Empire State of Mind was hilarious (Booty!!). The whole night I was waiting for Owens/Cesaro and Rollins/Cena. I already saw Taker vs. Lesnar I at WrestleMania XXX so I wasn’t expecting much. I was surprised Rollins and Cena were up first. The video package was great which led into a great “John Cena Sucks” chant from the Brooklyn crowd when his music hit. Honestly live in the Barclays Center, Cena was the heel and Rollins was the babyface. “Lets go Rollins” chants were very loud and the boos to Cena were as well.
The match was great with Rollins hitting the Frog Splash and the AA. Rollins pulled out other highflying moves that got the crowd behind him. When John Stewart came out I was like here we go screw Rollins but when he hit Cena I almost fell over into the rows in front of me in excitement. Counting out the 1.2.3 I marked out bigger then WrestleMania 31 when Rollins cashed in. My night was made. This was the first time I saw Owens live so I was excited for this match. Owens and Cesaro put on a great match with Owens going over. Taker and Lesnar were way better then their original match but the ending was really screwy. This night was one of the best PPVs I have every attended and can’t wait till the next PPV in Brooklyn.
