Best Friends def. ROH World Tag Team Champions The Motor City Machine Guns by Disqualification
This was a rematch from Final Battle back in December. I'm not sure how Best Friends earned another shot at the straps, but who cares, this was a entertaining match! The Machine Guns were the heels during their initial encounter, but both tandems seemed to be babyfaces here. It was enjoyable for as long as it lasted before The Briscoes crashed the party and viciously ambushed the champs, sending the message that they should be next in line for a title opportunity.
Marty Scurll def. Shane Taylor
I'm not sure if Scurll is officially a babyface now or not based off how he faced a heel here and was subsequently attacked by Punishment Martinez, but the crowds will cheer who they want when they want when it comes to Bullet Club. This was much more fun than I honestly expected it to be with the crowd solidly behind Scurll throughout and Taylor having one of his best singles showings to date. Afterward, Scurll called out Martinez and politely told him that he should be the No. 1 contender to the ROH World Championship, which of course Martinez declined by laying him out.
Cody def. Matt Taven
Taven has been involved in a handful of big matchups recently in Ring of Honor and has managed to win most of them, so it was cool to see him featured in the main event of the show against a high-profile opponent. This wasn't the most exciting match ever from an in-ring standpoint, but they worked well together and Taven looked like he was on Cody's level. Cody being super over with the audience obviously helped as well. The Kingdom maintained heat by beating Cody down during the post-match and taking aim at the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship.
In addition to the three quality contests this week, a video package highlighting Martinez and his road to the ROH World title aired. The timing couldn't have been better as next week he will battle Dalton Castle for the belt. Plus, Coast to Coast will face Beer City Bruiser and Brian Milonis. As for this episode, it was among the better all-around editions of ROH TV I've seen in recent memory and I believe it is well-worth checking out.
