ROH World Champion Cody Addressed the AudienceI recently saw Cody compete at an independent wrestling show and I can tell you firsthand that he's an absolute star right now. Granted, he always has been at various points over the years, but he has really settled on something special as a member of The Bullet Club and now as ROH World Champion. He could be doing more to get the fans to boo him, but at least he isn't embracing the audience like some heels do. I liked that he mentioned he remains a free agent (though I'm not sure whether that's legitimate or not) and teased a title rematch with former champ Christopher Daniels. Punisher Martinez def. Jonathon GreshamThis likely would have been a short squash match six months ago, but now that Gresham has been signed to a full-time deal with Ring of Honor, he's getting more and more opportunities to shine. Thus, I appreciated that this was more of a competitive contest than what we usually receive from Martinez and it exceeded my expectations as a result. Martinez emerged victorious as he should have and Jay White came out afterward to attack Martinez and further their feud. Cheeseburger and Joey "Diesel" daddiego def. The Tempura BoyzAt long last, Cheeseburger realized Will Ferrara was an abusive tag team partner and severed ties with him. I don't know how many people actually care about their rivalry (I don't), but people like Cheeseburger, so hopefully that will help. As for this match, it was a nice little tag team match but ultimately nothing out of the ordinary and largely forgettable. If nothing else, it served a purpose in regards to getting closer to Cheeseburger vs. Ferrara. The Bullet club def. Bully Ray and The BriscoesThe story here was that Bully Ray and The Briscoes are on the descent and that there has been bad blood between Bully and Jay Briscoe specifically. Anything involving The Bullet Club is usually entertaining and this was no exception as the two trios worked well together. I wasn't a huge fan of the referee shenanigans at the end, but at least Bullet Club attempted to elicit to heat by cheating to win. The aftermath was weird with The Briscoes both seemingly turning heel and Bully doing nothing about it, but I guess we'll see where it leads. Overall ShowThe only real blemish on this show was the first tag team match, but as noted, it was somewhat significant, so I didn't mind it too much. The rest of this edition of ROH TV was enjoyable with the main event being a treat, Martinez vs. Gresham being better than I thought it would be and Cody cutting a great promo that indicated we'll be seeing him against Daniels again relatively soon.
