Eli Isom def. Dak Draper in a Survival of the Fittest Qualifying Match
The pre-match interviews with both men did a great job of explaining what qualifying for the Survival of the Fittest would mean to them as well as acknowledging how their last match against each other ended in a time-limit draw. I could have done without Dalton Castle being at ringside, but at least he didn't serve as a major distraction and I'm glad we got an actual finish this time. They had a well-wrestled match with both guys having solid showings.
ROH World Tag Team Champions The Foundation (Tracy Williams and Rhett Titus) def. La Faccion Ingobernable (Dragon Lee and Kenny Williams) in a Pure Rules Tag Team Match by Disqualification
This was the match we were supposed to get at the 19th Anniversary Show before Lee had to pull out at the last minute. As expected, it was a very fun match given the level of talent involved. The action was entertaining throughout, but I honestly didn't think the titles were in jeopardy of changing hands at any point. We haven't seen a disqualification in a Pure Rules match yet, so while it was something new, it felt like an underwhelming ending to me. If nothing else, at least it protected La Faccion Ingobernable in defeat. The Foundation and La Faccion Ingobernable went to war afterward while Violence Unlimited watched from the stage. I wonder what type of match these three factions will eventually meet in or if they'll just continue to clash in separate matches.
It's worth mentioning that the O'Shay Edwards and Chris Dickinson interviews were excellent. Their Survival of the Fittest qualifier will be happening on this week's episode of ROH Week by Week on YouTube. This was another meaningful hour of wrestling with Isom and Draper fighting to qualify for Survival of the Fittest while the tag titles were defended in an enjoyable, fast-paced main event. Next week, we're getting Bandido vs. Bateman in another Survival of the Fittest qualifier and Tony Deppen vs. Dragon Lee vs. Tracy Williams in a three-way for the ROH World Television Championship.
