Ring of Honor Review - September 9, 2015

ROH World Tag Team Champions The Addiction def. The Young Bucks

I've made it clear in the past that I'm not a fan of the constant kick-outs and overuse of superkicks in Ring of Honor matches, but I've become accustomed to the style and I'd be damned if this wasn't an excellent tag team match. Both tandems work so incredibly well together and there were several suspenseful spots down the stretch, especially when The Young Bucks had the match won and Daniels pulled the referee out of the ring. There will be those that won't be happy with The Kingdom's interference, but it was smart to protect The Young Bucks and it set the stage nicely for the Triple Threat tag team title match at the next pay-per-view which should be nothing short of stellar.


ROH World Champion and ROH World Television Champion Jay Lethal def. Roderick Strong (ROH World Television Championship Wasn't Defended)

As great as the first match was, this was off-the-charts amazing from both an in-ring and storyline standpoint. Strong kicked out of everything that Lethal dished out and the fans ate up every single second of it. Yes, it would have been better if the rest of The House of Truth was barred from ringside and I'm surprised that wasn't the case with this match, but perhaps in a future rematch down the line. They were given an exceptional amount of time, making this arguably the best ROH match I've ever seen. Could it have happened on pay-per-view? Possibly, but we've already seen them battle on PPV once before, so I don't think they left any money on the table by doing it on TV.

Overall Show

This show definitely lived up to the lofty expectations with two fantastic matches. I love shows that feature less matches because it usually means they get more time and that was the case with this episode. Both bouts were extremely well-wrestled and entertaining while also hyping up the pending pay-per-view, so I'd be a fool to not recommend you go out of your way to watch this wrestling-filled hour of television.
