RJ's Two Cents - 2016 WWE Bold Predictions

By RJ Marceau

I know Graham usually does yearly bold predictions so I decided to jump on the wagon and deliver my own bold predictions. There may be some eyebrow raisers but at the end of the day it's for fun and see if you can predict certain things in the WWE. I will start with the more likely to happen and go to the less likely scenarios.

Picture
1. Kalisto Wins the United States or Intercontinental Championship

When Alberto Del Rio returned to the WWE and beat John Cena for the United States Championship I was shocked. The reports came out that the WWE thought the ratings slump was due to the lack of Latino stars. So instead of pushing Kalisto they decided to bring back Del Rio. I don’t mind the Lucha Dragons but they are damaged goods due to Sin Cara. Kalisto has shined on his own and could have a good singles run. In 2016, NXT tag teams should get the call up to the main roster and the WWE should split up the Lucha Dragons. Kalisto will win the U.S. or Intercontinental title in 2016 and become a household name.

2. Bray Wyatt Wins at WrestleMania 32, Wins a Title in 2016

Bray Wyatt has been great in his WWE run but once you expect him to make a huge stride in his career he hit the WrestleMania roadblock that WWE has put in front of him. At WrestleMania 30, Wyatt was built as the new big heel just to go on to lose to John Cena at WrestleMania 30, Extreme Rules and Payback. Last year it seemed if Wyatt would become the new “face of fear” but fell short to the Undertaker.

The WWE has built him up strong each year and has gone on to lose at WrestleMania. Going into WrestleMania 32, he is being built strong as well and should have a good showing in the Royal Rumble. Rumors of him facing Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania have been circulating but this year is a must win. If Bray goes 0-3 at WrestleMania he will be considered a joke since he can't win the big match and will be all talk as usual.

The 2nd part is bolder since Wyatt hasn’t won a title since he debuted in 2012 and hasn’t been in the title picture. The WWE would be smart to put a title on him but they use him as the modern day Jake “The Snake” Roberts who never won a title himself. Wyatt deserves to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and hopefully in 2016 he can capture some WWE gold.

3. Kevin Owens Is the 2016 Money in the Bank Winner

Besides the New Day, Kevin Owens is the only act that doesn’t seem scripted or generic. Owens has been great in 2015 and should have an even better 2016. KO should be in contention for the Money in the Bank briefcase and should win at this year’s installment of Money in the Bank. Owens could align with the Authority to get in the match and split away after he wins the briefcase. Owens seems to have big plans for 2016 so if he doesn’t have the title already him winning MITB seems very logical.

4. Jason Jordan and Chad Gable win the WWE Tag Team Championships

This is when my predictions get bold. When it comes to tag team wrestling no one is hotter in the ring then Gable & Jordan. The New Day are a better act but in the ring they can’t touch Gable & Jordan. After seeing their matches in the last month and especially in London, they are ready for the main roster. They can win the belts from Dash & Dawson at NXT TakeOver: Dallas and keep them up till NXT: Brooklyn in the summer.

The WWE lacks strong tag teams and with my prediction of the Lucha Dragons splitting up they will need a new exciting tag team. Enzo & Cass should be called up but could flounder on the main roster due to their in ring abilities. Jordan & Gable will be called up after SummerSlam and win the WWE Tag Team titles at Survivor Series 2016.

5. Wade (King, Bad News) Barrett Wins the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

When you think of the WWE future back in 2010, you had to think Wade Barrett would win a WWE championship and be part of WWE’s future stars. But then the WWE failed to capitalize on The Nexus leader and had him lose to Randy Orton and John Cena in big matches. Barrett went on to lead The Corre and saw numerous pushes through 5 years. Barrett has had a few bad runs as IC champion and has zero momentum under the King Barrett gimmick. His involvement in the League of Nations is better than nothing but should be utilized better. Wade Barrett winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship would be great in 2016 but they need to utilize him correctly.

6. Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch vs. Bayley vs. Charlotte for the WWE Divas Championship Main Events SummerSlam

You want bold well I will give you bold. The WWE has been trying to sell this “Divas Revolution” with the whole faction wars but the money is in the Four Horsewomen. As of right now Bayley is the only one not on the main roster but should be called up after WrestleMania. If the WWE builds this right they could easily book this as the main event. They need to make all the women seem credible and the chances of them winning all split at 25% a person.

In most Fatal 4-Ways you have two people that seem credible so you're not fully invested in the match. The WWE could build this as the match of the Divas Revolution and they could tear the Barclays Center down. This match would set new barriers for the WWE and will put butts in the seats. Bayley comes up short in the Barclays Center and we crown Becky Lynch as your new WWE Divas Champion.
