By RJ Marceau I honestly was so upset with myself that I didn’t put a 2019 edition of bold predictions. I thought I did but going through the archives I didn’t see it. So here are my 2020 wrestling bold predictions! 1. Tessa Blanchard Goes to WWE Over AEWOnce her contract is up, reportedly in the summer, Tessa Blanchard will be the most sought out free agent. Even though her father is currently working with AEW, I think the smarter move for her would be going to WWE/NXT. I understand if she goes to AEW she would be the face of the division, but she is already the face of TNA and still doesn’t get the exposure she would get from joining WWE. If she goes to AEW I think she could carve out a good career but the lack of talent they have could hinder her legacy. Tessa integrated with the NXT/WWE women’s wrestlers would be amazing due to the talent they have right now. I wouldn’t be shocked if she went to AEW, but I think the bigger/better/bolder move is going to WWE. 2. AEW Debuts a Secondary Title Won by CodyI know that debuting a second title wouldn’t be so bold, but I think Cody winning it is. I know Cody is no longer able to challenge for the AEW World Championship so he has to find some way to maintain credibility. If he just wins with nothing to show for it or vice-versa, it will get old. I see them debuting a TV title and Cody must be the inaugural winner. He is one of the most over babyfaces in the wrestling industry right now so he needs to stay relevant. Cody being the face of the midcard will be big for AEW and help put over younger talent. 3. Sonya Deville Will Win the Raw or Smackdown Women’s ChampionshipI have been high on the women’s division for a long time and at one point was the NEW Women’s Wresting advocate (or whatever title GSM gave me). Since they debuted as Absolution, I have been high on Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose. Recently I have been higher on Sonya Deville. I think Sonya has a ton of potential and should win the Women’s Royal Rumble this year. We need more women to get spotlighted besides the Four Horsewomen. Sonya has a good character/wrestler and just needs the opportunity. If she wins the Royal Rumble she can challenge Bayley at WrestleMania 36. A win would be big for her and help give more credibility to the division besides the handful they continuously push. 4. Survivor Series Finally Has StakesI know I’m not in the minority but Survivor Series needs stakes besides bragging rights/brand supremacy. This does nothing to hype the show or make people care. It should be either future title shots, entry into the Royal Rumble/Money in the Bank match or transferring brands which could be interesting. The pay-per-view has been stale besides this year with the involvement of NXT and needs to be spiced up. Adding stakes and actually sticking to it would make it a whole lot better. If they do add stakes, they should just nix TLC so it makes Survivor Series the last PPV of the year. 5. "Hangman" Adam Page Wins the AEW World ChampionshipWhen AEW was launched it seemed like Adam Page would be a face of the company. Since losing to Jericho at All Out, he has kind of been lost in the shuffle. I know they are teasing a heel turn since he has left The Elite but they need to do more with him. I think eventually turning him heel would be great and fresh. He has been one of my favorites in AEW since the promotion has debuted so I would like to see him as a main focus on the show. Adam Page winning the World Championship will help his exposure to casuals who don’t know him as much as the rest of The Elite guys and ex-WWE guys.
