A week late but I was so busy at work post WrestleMania I didn’t have time to write about my experience. I went to NXT TakeOver: Orlando which was a good show. I didn’t agree with a few of the finishes like Asuka retaining but the show met my expectations so I can’t complain.
We went to Disney from 9-2 and went straight to WrestleMania. The gates opened at 3:30. Our seats were on the floor which I was excited for but they had one of the pillars in the way. I tried to get relocated but the usher didn’t help at all. We sucked it up but it ticked me off that after the show I looked on Twitter and if you went to the box office they relocated people but now I know for the future.
Our seats were right near the stage so we had a great view of the stage and just watched the matches to the best of our ability or watched on the screens.
I won’t run down the card but I will put down what I enjoyed and what could’ve been better. When it comes to the shows positive points I would say AJ Styles vs. Shane McMahon was the match of the night hands down. I was really intrigued in this match going into WrestleMania and they didn’t disappoint. Jericho and Owens, Neville and Aries, Raw Women’s Title match played out good and met my expectations. I wasn’t excited for the Raw tag title ladder match because they really didn’t give me a reason to care but the Hardy Boys return was amazing. I made my WWE Network debut during their entrance in the crowd and the match was good. Cena and Nikki vs. Miz and Maryse didn’t match the hype but the match was meant for the moment of John proposing to Nikki which I didn’t care for but was a good moment.
Rollins vs. HHH was another good match that went long but I enjoyed the story the match told. Stephanie going through the table was a good spot with Rollins defeating HHH after with a Pedigree. Rollins using the curb stomp would’ve made the crowd explode but Rollins winning was right.
Goldberg vs. Lesnar was booked perfectly with all the big spots. Lesnar winning was the right call. I enjoyed Goldberg’s run but WWE Universal Champion, not so much. Lesnar won’t be around that much which I can be fine with but they should have an interim champion when he isn’t around.
I honestly didn’t hate this match as much as the critics but the match wasn’t good. I would say decent but what did people expect? I thought the hocus pocus lightening with the worms and maggots was a nice touch but it didn’t save the match. These guys don’t have good chemistry so I didn’t expect a good match.
It was a shame it was for the WWE Champion and Wyatt lost but he isn’t the greatest worker so I think this could be the last time he gets the WWE Championship. I like Bray as a character but besides his match vs. Daniel Bryan I can’t name another one-on-one match that sticks out as a good match.
The SmackDown’s Women match was decent at best but it was a typical sloppy multi-women match. If I was booking the match would have been Alexa Bliss vs. Naomi vs. Becky Lynch vs. Mickie James. Nothing against Carmella and Natalya but they had a zero percent chance of winning. Naomi was winning was predictable and it didn’t help they only had five minutes and 35 seconds.
Undertaker retiring was a great moment and I can say I was at the Streak ending match and his retirement match but the match was decent at best. Undertaker didn’t look great and I felt bad for Reigns. People honestly need to get over Reigns being pushed. He is the next guy cry about it. Reigns is the next guy and people just need to accept it. Reigns performed well and deserved the rub of retiring Undertaker.
The show was great and I talked to Graham after the show and I thought WrestleMania XXX had better main event but WrestleMania 33 had better overall matches. I think both shows were good but I enjoyed WrestleMania 33 better live and watching it back. I plan on going to WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans next year and it will be my third WrestleMania in five years. I hope GSM will join me.
