By RJ Marceau As many of you know Seth Rollins is my favorite WWE superstar. He is in the discussion with Rey Mysterio for all time favorite but that will be another discussion for another day. Since “The Architect of the Shield” debuted on the main roster he has had great matches with The Shield and as a singles competitor. This list was intended for Kevin Owens but I miss Seth and decided to do an article on the future of the WWE. I won’t include Seth in the WrestleMania 31 match since he was only in the bout for like 3 minutes. All these matches were great and it was honestly hard for me to rank them 5-1. 5. The Shield vs. Evolution at Extreme Rules 2014 Honestly looking at the match card from Extreme Rules 2014 this match should have been the main event. Nothing against Daniel Bryan vs. Kane but that match and feud was so desperately created that the crowd didn’t really care. This match was a classic with the Shield taking out Batista with a triple power bomb to Seth jumping from the concourse overpass. To this day, this encounter between the Shield and Evolution will go down as when The Shield defeated Evolution in a great 6 man tag team match. The Shield would go on to face Evolution at Payback and win leading to Seth turning on his Shield brothers. The match at Payback was good but this was last great match The Shield had together. 4. Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose at SummerSlam 2014 When you think of Lumberjack matches they are known for being really boring with heavy interference from the lumberjacks. I can say confidently that this is the best Lumberjack match I have ever seen. These two didn’t stick with the usual lumberjack rules by staying inside the ring they attacked the lumberjacks and fought into the stands. Kane sent the lumberjacks into the stands to retrieve these two but it took sometime to get them back into the ring. After Ambrose hit Rollins with a curb stomp it seemed as if the “Lunatic Fringe” would beat Rollins. Kane interfered leading to a massive brawl from the other lumberjacks. During all this Seth managed to get his Money in the Bank briefcase and hit Ambrose with it to pick up the victory. Seth as Mr. Money in the Bank was always entertaining and used the briefcase whenever he needed it. 3. The Shield vs. Team Hell No & Ryback at TLC 2012 When I think of the best Shield match I can’t forget their debut match at Tables, Ladders and Chairs in 2012. The Shield had debuted a month prior attacking Ryback at Survivor Series. They went on to attack Team Hell No (Kane & Daniel Bryan) as well. This match featured little in ring action with all members brawling. The Shield hit a triple power bomb on Ryback through a table, they hit a double superplex on Bryan through a table and Reigns speared Kane through the ringside barricade. The Shield dominated most of the matchup but eventually Ryback would come back into the bout. He threw Rollins off a 20 ft. ladder where he took a nasty bump with his head clipping a table. Reigns would hit a power bomb off the top rope on Bryan to pick up the victory. The Shield would go on to dominate for two years until their separation in June of 2015. 2. Seth Rollins vs. John Cena at SummerSlam 2015 Wow, this match is one of my favorite matches I have ever seen live and is easily one of Seth Rollins' best matches. Rollins going into SummerSlam vs. Cena for the U.S. and WWE Championship had a lot of buzz. The performance from both men was great with Seth pulling off every move in his arsenal. He debuted his white attire and shined like a star. Rollins would pull out the Phoenix Splash twice missing both times and needed an assist from Jon Stewart to win. Say what you want about this match's ending but Rollins and Cena put on a clinic. Rollins reign as WWE and U.S. champion would only last a month but being both champions was a feat that no other man can say they have done besides Seth Rollins. 1. Seth Rollins vs. John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble 2015 Many people give this match the nod for 2015 match of the year and for being in January is impressive. This match featured mostly Rollins vs. Cena due to Rollins taking out Brock with a flying elbow off the top rope through the Spanish announce table. Rollins and Cena had a great back and forth battle after that spot leading to Rollins using the Phoenix Splash for the 1st time in his WWE career to my memory. It seemed that Rollins could win but Brock slid in to suplex Rollins. Seth would hit Brock with the Money in the Bank briefcase twice and tried for the curb stomp but got caught with an F5. Brock pinned Seth to retain his WWE title. This match showed the WWE Universe the potential that Seth has as a performer and gained respect from the WWE Universe as well. If you have any matches in mind that could be on this list let me know @RJ_Marceau on Twitter and I like to communicate with anyone. I hope you enjoyed my list and my two cents.
