Wow, the WWE keeps making headlines. First the WWE signed Austin Aeries to WWE NXT. Then the “Phenomenal” AJ Styles debuts in the Royal Rumble and yesterday it was announced that Shinsuke Nakamura will being coming to the WWE.

Spoiler Alert: Nakamura was announced to be facing Sami Zayn at NXT TakeOver: Dallas on April 1st, 2016.

When the reports came out that the WWE had signed Kevin Owens, Hideo Itami, Finn Balor and Asuka I honestly had no idea who they were. I’m not a big indy guy and never have been. The WWE is my cup of tea and tastes just fine with me. I do enjoy Lucha Underground but I haven’t really got into Ring of Honor or New Japan Pro Wrestling. I realized that I was missing some good wrestling on the independent scene and decided to watch a few matches on YouTube.

This year I heard about the match that AJ Styles had at Wrestle Kingdom 10 against Shinsuke Nakamura was amazing. I am a fan of AJ so I decided to watch the match and will say it was amazing. Especially not knowing or seeing any of Nakamura’s work I was impressed. He is a star in Japan and he should thrive in the WWE. I then watched a one off match Nakamura had in Ring of Honor against Kevin Steen (Owens). Owens was amazing in Ring of Honor and has the same character in the WWE. They contested a great contest for Nakamura’s IWPG Heavyweight Championship with Nakamura retaining.

Even though Shinsuke Nakamura has only really wrestled in New Japan, he has wrestled a few guys on the WWE roster. Finn Balor, Kevin Owens, AJ Styles and “The Beast” Brock Lesnar. Yes, the last name may surprise you but Lesnar wrestled in New Japan Pro Wrestling after he left the WWE and became the IWPG champion. Nakamura challenged Lesnar for his title but lost. The Beast in the East II with Lesnar vs. Nakamura would be amazing, just saying, Vince.

The WWE is bringing in Nakamura to add more attention to NXT and especially since the WWE is launching the WWE Network in Japan. Nakamura, Balor and Itami made huge names for themselves in Japan and will gain more viewers from Japan. I don’t know if Nakamura and Itami have ever wrestled but this should be a dream match for anyone.

I think Nakamura will eventually make it to the WWE main roster but with Samoa Joe, Itami, Balor, Zayn in front of him he may stay in NXT for a while. Unless the main roster clears out most of the jobbers and pushes all these guys. He can have great matches with Seth Rollins, Dolph Ziggler, and Dean Ambrose on the main roster and hopefully we see him vs. Brock Lesnar again before Brock retires.
