RJ's Two Cents - The New Day

In most of my Two Cents articles I make a statement and discuss my reasoning. Instead I decided to actually give my “two cents” on the hottest act in professional wrestling right now, the WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E and Xavier Woods). When this tandem debuted as babyfaces, the WWE Universe rejected the act due to them being bland babyfaces.

The group was allowed to turn heel and make themselves entertaining. I was at SummerSlam 2015 and they had one of if not the biggest pops when they came out and especially when they won the belts. The New Day have run through the WWE tag team division but over their 6 month reign as champions they have been able to reinvent themselves. They started with the singing, the dance moves, the trombone, the unicorn persona and now the Booty O’s.

The New Day has been the most entertaining part of Raw since winning the belts in August. Even though the group turned heel the crowd cheers them like they are the fan favorites. The New Day have had great matches such as their match at TLC vs. The Usos and Lucha Dragons, and their match this past Monday vs. Y2AJ (Chris Jericho and AJ Styles).

Over the past few months, The New Day has been tweeners since they do heelish tactics but are beloved by the crowd. Each member plays their role perfectly and the group seems to keep getting better and better. As for their plans at WrestleMania 32, The New Day doesn’t have opponents but after tonight’s Raw it may be announced who their opponents will be.

The WWE has probably made a killing off The New Day’s merchandise and keep releasing new items for the group. I would honestly keep the belts on The New Day until they break the record for longest reign as WWE Tag Team Champions. Besides the Shield, I can’t think of a more successful stable or group since Evolution. The WWE would be stupid to not feature these guys on the actual WrestleMania card and not the pre-show for the second year in a row. The New Day’s creativity has kept them appealing and should keep them your W-W-E World Tag Team Champions!!

Believe That!

They are good and entertaining but one wonders how much further they could go in their antics and entertainment value, does it need to be brought to an end at some point, would like the League of Nations to beat them, reckon they would make really entertaining champions themselves.
