RJ's Two Cents - UFC 207 Predictions

Tonight is the last UFC PPV in 2016 and it should be a good one. The UFC has had a ton of title changes, great fights and marquee cards. UFC 207 had a great main card before Cain Velasquez had to withdraw from his fight with Fabricio Werdum due to a back injury. It’s now a 3-fight main card but I will preview these three bouts.

TJ Dillashaw vs. John Linekar in a UFC Bantamweight bout (135 pounds)

All three top bouts will be at 135 and this one should be a great matchup. Similar to the championship match between Cruz & Garbrandt, it’s the skill and speed of TJ Dillashaw vs. the hard-hitting John Linekar. In my opinion, Dillashaw should have faced Cruz at UFC 199 over Uriah Faber because the fight at UFC Fight Night in January was a split decision. Either man could’ve won and Dillashaw should’ve got a rematch. Now the UFC gave Garbrandt the opportunity so I think Dillashaw will be on the top of his game vs. Linekar to prove he is the #1 Bantamweight.

Linekar has been undefeated since joining the Bantamweight division but I don’t think he has what it takes to beat the former champion TJ Dillashaw. I think Dillashaw defeats Linekar via unanimous decision.

Since his return last January, Dominick Cruz has looked great vs. TJ Dillashaw to win his title back and put on an absolute clinic vs. Uriah Faber at UFC 199 to retain. Cruz has amazing footwork and makes him hard to hit. Garbrandt is an up and coming bantamweight with big knockout power with a great boxing background. Cruz should retain via decision since he doesn’t normally knock people out but if Garbrandt wins it will be early in the 1st or 2nd round via KO.

Amanda Nunes © vs. Ronda Rousey for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship

It has been over a year since we last saw Ronda Rousey in the Octagon and going into a title fight vs. Nunes will be interesting to say the least. Holly Holm showed the patience to pick apart Rousey and I think Nunes posses more power then Holm. Rousey may take a different approach but being out of the octagon for that long it will be interesting to see the octagon rust she has. Even Jon Jones looked rusty when he returned at UFC 197 vs. Ovince St. Preuix.

If Rousey charges like she did in her prime I expect her to get knocked out early because Nunes hits hard and has good accuracy. I have Nunes and I think if Rousey loses she will retire. She did zero media going into this fight so it will be interesting to hear from her.
