On Monday, Brock Lesnar revealed that he was facing Mark Hunt at UFC 200. As a UFC fan for over 5 years I have been able to see Mark Hunt compete in the octagon. Mark Hunt is currently the #8 ranked Heavyweight in the UFC. Hunt has never been a contender for the UFC Heavyweight Championship but he has won his last two fights by knockout vs. Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva and Frank Mir. Hunt lost to former UFC Heavyweight Champion Fabricio Werdum but he was able to knock him down twice.
Hunts 7-4-1 UFC record isn’t the greatest but Hunt is always in every fight because of his one punch Knockout power. Hunt has a former background in Kickboxing and boxing but his height is his kryptonite. Hunt is 5 ft. 10 and has a 74 in. reach. This hurt Hunt when he faced the current UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic who is 6 ft. 4 and has a 80 in. reach. Miocic out struck Hunt 361-48 in the 5 round fight.
My thoughts on the fight at UFC 200 vs. Brock Lesnar: I think Mark Hunt has a bigger chance to win then people are expecting. If Lesnar is able to take Hunt down on the ground I think Lesnar will win but he stands up with Hunt he could easily lose. Brock has a 5-3 UFC record and hasn’t been hit legitimately in over 5 years. Hunt has heavy hands and could drop Lesnar with just one punch.
I won’t be mad if either man wins because I have become a big fan of Hunt's over the years. I will say this, The New Zealander that fights out of Sydney, Australia could drop “The Beast Incarnate” at UFC 200 and you should watch on July 9th.
