By RJ Marceau I said it Tuesday morning on Twitter and I will say it again. After Monday night the one big takeaway from Raw was Bray Wyatt as a babyface is money. Bray Wyatt has been on the main roster for almost three years and we just got last night his first face turn. After WrestleMania 32, I thought the Bray Wyatt character as a heel was done. He has faced in the past three years, John Cena, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Chris Jericho and The Undertaker. When you have faced the most prominent babyfaces for three years the act gets either stale or needs a refreshing change. Bray had faced all these people but besides Ambrose and Jericho looked like a complete loser against Cena, Reigns and The Undertaker. Once Wyatt lost to Cena at WrestleMania XXX I knew he would struggle and he did. It wasn’t until late 2014 that he started to mean something again when he beat Dean Ambrose in a series of matches. As we all know he went on to lose to The Undertaker at WrestleMania 31 and was booked horribly in 2015.
Wyatt has the unique character that the WWE helped get over in time but having the guy lose week in and week out did nothing but kill his momentum. We expected to see him face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 32 but instead he got ripped apart by the Rock and referred to him as “The Eater of Hot Pockets.” After this I was stunned. What could they do to make him seem special again? Last week, they attacked The League of Nations but it wasn’t a total face turn. This week however we saw Bray team with Roman Reigns vs. Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio. Bray has the fans' interest with the firefly aspect of his entrance but wow, that hot tag was amazing by Bray Wyatt. The fans ate it up and it solidified his babyface turn. This is exactly what Bray needed to become a key player again in the WWE. After the League of Nations, I don’t know what they will do with him but an Intercontinental, United States or WWE World Heavyweight Championship title run should be in the near future. I have said this before that Wyatt needs a title to solidify himself. The face turn is fresh and this will help rejuvenate his career that seemed like it would be very forgettable. As a fan of Bray Wyatt, I think if they book him correctly from this point forward they can heal the wrongs so far in his career and make him a star.
