![]() By RJ Marceau Last night, I was at my friend Will's house for UFC 199. Over the past year I have gone to his house each month for the UFC PPVs. During the show he showed me a notification on how the UFC was in serious talks with Brock Lesnar. I stated that Lesnar was under WWE contract and it was doubtful that Vince would allow him to fight for the UFC. After an amazing promo for UFC 200 it ended with Lesnar yelling “Can you see me now?” and Lesnar punching the camera. I was extremely excited because Lesnar was the guy who got me into UFC and I remember buying UFC 100 to see Lesnar defend his UFC Heavyweight championship vs. Frank Mir. Lesnar would get sick and leave the UFC but without his involvement I don’t know if I would’ve become a UFC fan. Lesnar’s involvement to the UFC 200 card is amazing for the organization with Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier II, Frankie Edgar vs. Jose Aldo for the Interim Featherweight Championship and Miesha Tate vs. Amanda Nunes for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship. Lesnar will announce his opponent today on SportsCenter but my best guess is Mark Hunt. Hunt has great knockout power and is the biggest name that Lesnar has the best chance to win. I would say Junior Dos Santos but I’m not sure Lesnar could beat him especially this being his first fight back in four and a half years.
I don’t think they are bringing Lesnar back to face a top contender but to just skyrocket the buyrates for UFC 200. Four out of the ten top UFC buyrates of all time had Lesnar as the main event. He is the biggest draw in UFC history so win or lose they will sell a ton of PPVs. If Lesnar comes in, kicks ass and wins it would be a big win for the WWE because he would look like a beast and they could play that in to his WWE character stating he can still win in the UFC. However, if he loses it could kill his mystique in the WWE. He wouldn’t look like the unbeatable beast that they have been telling fans he is if he lost to some non-contender in the UFC. Lesnar winning helps both companies but either win or loss the UFC will make huge money and gain a big viewership. SEE ALSO: "RJ's Two Cents - AJ Styles vs. John Cena"
