 By RJ Marceau Since NXT was revamped into the new developmental system for the WWE, they have booked the women tremendously. In almost three years, the NXT Women’s Championship has had four champions. Paige, Charlotte, Sasha Banks and Bayley. All these women were WWE home grown talent. Besides Charlotte, the others wrestled in other indie promotions but didn’t get their star power or stardom until they were in NXT. All these women had great reigns as champions and were booked great. Bayley has the shortest reign as NXT Women’s Champion but with her matchup with Asuka at NXT TakeOver: Dallas in less than two months she should pass Sasha Banks who held the title for 192 days/six months. The WWE seems like they will pass the torch in the NXT Women’s division by presumably giving Asuka the title. Asuka is the perfect champion at the time because outside of Emma, they are the only women wrestlers that have good experience in the business. The WWE would be smart to use Asuka as a stepping stone for a young women wrestler to get over. I think Carmella should be the one to take the title off of Asuka if she wins at NXT TakeOver: Dallas. I know the WWE has been rumored to call up Enzo & Big Cass, which would make you assume Carmella is coming up with them. The WWE should have her still be on NXT TV as a talent to continue to develop as an in ring competitor. She has the potential that I don’t see in either Nia Jax or Eva Marie.  When it comes to Alexa Bliss as a heel she’s amazing. She has developed greatly over her short time as a women's wrestler in NXT. Pairing her with Blake & Murphy was good at first because it exposed her more on NXT TV similar to Carmella being with Enzo & Cass. I would say Enzo & Cass helped Carmella get over with the audience while Blake & Murphy have done nothing for Bliss. Besides extra TV time they are only relevant because of her.
I know this article title may confuse some people because at this point they aren’t even close to the level of the feud that Sasha and Bayley had but once Bayley leaves for the main roster, Carmella would be the top babyface and Alexa Bliss will be the top heel. I hope the WWE doesn’t just see Carmella as a valet on the main roster because I think she could contribute to the WWE Divas division. I don’t Blake & Murphy will get called up to the main roster anytime soon so I wouldn’t be surprised if they split Alexa from them. Carmella and Alexa Bliss haven’t feuded at all since being in NXT besides a one off match. In NXT, they don’t really waste feuds so I think they see Bliss vs. Carmella as a potential good feud for the NXT Women’s division. If Carmella is brought up soon and she isn’t involved in NXT TV then this feud may never happen. Hopefully they see that Carmella has the talent and potential and keeping her in NXT would be best for business.
