RJ’s Two Cents - Why the Second Women's Match at WrestleMania 32 Should Be For the New WWE Divas Tag Titles

Before I start, I know TNA tried this idea and it failed but that was due to a limit of women wrestlers and Eric Young somehow winning one half of the titles. The WWE has the ability to design this concept because the WWE Divas division is stacked. These women can wrestle and majority of them don’t get on television. The WWE has the Divas title feud and usually a feud over Total Divas.

The issue is no one cares about the Total Diva feuds because they turn so many times it gets to a point you don’t know who is heel or face. On the top of my head I can think of a few reasons why the WWE should develop a Diva’s/women’s tag team division.

1. The Talent Could Be Utilized Better

The WWE is known for underutilizing the men and the women but especially with the women since there is only one belt. The WWE has failed to give Natalya, Naomi and Becky Lynch a shot to hold the belt that has been around the waist of AJ Lee, Paige, Nikki Bella or Charlotte for the past three years since AJ beat Kaitlyn for the title at Payback 2013. Right now it seems that the direction will be Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte or Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte at WrestleMania 32. Divas like Natalya, Paige, Naomi and Brie Bella would then have nothing for WrestleMania.

If the WWE went with just Sasha vs. Charlotte that would leave Becky Lynch out of a match as well. If you’re content with the Total Diva feuds then I question your actual appreciation for women’s wrestling.

2. NXT Women Thrown Into the Equation

Here is the curve ball. As we all know NXT is one of the hottest things in wrestling right now and specifically their Women’s division. This battle royal would allow them to get involved in the new division. On the top of my head you could have established teams such as Naomi/Tamina, Bayley/Carmella, Emma/Dana Brooke and Nia Jax/Eva Marie. Possible friends or rivals align with Bayley/Becky Lynch, Cameron/Naomi or Emma/Paige. Also new tandems could form such as Becky Lynch/Deonna Purrazzo, Alexa Bliss/Paige or Asuka/any other Diva.

The WWE has the talent and an opportunity to make new big names in the Divas division. The possibility of this happening is probably slim to not happening but I think that if the WWE wants to invest more in their women then a new tag team division would be the new spark they need and shy away from the Total Divas stuff.

Thought the same before as well, it could be run across both nxt and the main roster, for example, maybe mixing a diva from nxt and the main roster on a team. It could also produce teams just for the diva's tag-team titles like the USO's are at the moment. It wouldn't need to be defended that often either, prehaps every 2 weeks a match takes place, doesn't have to be a tag-title match, reckon though the big issue with it would it, it would be really difficult to organize. Great idea though.
