RJ’s Two Cents - Why the WWE Universe Needs to Accept Roman Reigns As a Main Eventer

The WWE Universe has been very critical of “Big Dog” Roman Reigns since breaking out of The Shield and being pushed as a breakout babyface. Reigns worked a program with Randy Orton and started getting his stride as a singles competitor. Reigns was going to face Seth Rollins at Night of Champions 2014 but was sidelined with a hernia injury. The roadblock in front of Roman Reigns wasn’t the road to recovery, it was the return of Daniel Bryan.

The WWE management decision to have Daniel Bryan return at the Royal Rumble wasn’t good for Reigns. Instead of getting a massive pop he was showered in boos because the crowd wanted to see Bryan who failed to win or even be in the Rumble in 2014 was tossed out of the match rather quickly. Even Roman Reigns' cousin, The Rock, couldn’t stop the crowd from booing him out of the arena. I honestly didn’t want to see Reigns win at WrestleMania 31, not due to me not liking him but his push over other Superstars.

Reigns in 2015 reminded me a lot of Batista from 2005. Both these guys have that “it” look and were overlooked in their respective groups as just big muscle guys. Batista was definitely not ready but was lucky to wrestle in an era where the Internet wasn’t as big as it is and the fans weren’t as critical. If Batista was booked like that in 2015 people would give him the same treatment Reigns has received. Instead of being spoiled and stubborn fans, the WWE would give you a match or program whether you like it or not. Batista broke away from Evolution in February and won the belt the next month. Reigns got a full year and people complained he wasn’t ready.

Reigns has been the #1 enemy of the Authority so him going into WrestleMania 32 vs. HHH for the belt makes sense. I can see why people don’t like Roman Reigns because his booking as “Cena 2.0” is ridiculous but if anyone on the roster should be looked as “Superman” it’s Roman Reigns. I am rooting for Roman Reigns going into WrestleMania to win the belt because of the backlash he has received from the IWC. I am sorry your indie darling isn’t WWE Champion and Reigns who has family lineage in the company got the shot before them. Reigns has the look to be a breakout babyface or heel and can make a lot of money for the company.

It’s a business, people. If you look at the WWE as a business, who can gain mass appeal, has a great look and can be the new face of the WWE? If you don’t say Roman Reigns, you're delusional. Dean Ambrose, Kevin Owens, Dolph Ziggler even Seth Rollins, who I am a big fan of, don’t have the look of being a “Star” like Roman Reigns. I hope Reigns wins to piss off the IWC and finally get the championship he deserves.

Believe That!

Reigns just as Cena always gets a big pop, divided, but big.

He actually can go a way, Cena can't. He can be a Tweener.
A Face that just is fed up with the crowd.
