RJ’s Two Cents - Why WWE Forming The Social Outcasts Was a Good Idea

Usually in the WWE, they decide to form new factions or groups to help them get over, seem like a big deal or try and utilize talent in a new way. Factions such as The New Day are the newest/most successful faction the WWE has formed since the Shield by taking Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods and Big E and forming a new stable. These guys turned a horrible preacher gimmick into the most entertaining act on the roster. The WWE made out perfectly with this tandem since they were all good in the ring but were floundering in the midcard. They have been on top of the WWE Tag Team scene since SummerSlam. The WWE has made a great decision in the ring and business wise with this team.

When The Social Outcasts made their debut as a team I was very skeptical. The issue didn’t stem from the WWE adding another stable right after they made the League of Nations, it was who was in the group. Instead of taking 3-4 midcarders who were actually on TV and noteworthy they decided to take four quintessential jobbers/losers and put them in a group. These men had one common trait, which was being a social outcast. The members make sense with Curtis Axel, Heath Slater, Bo Dallas and Adam Rose but I think if the WWE switched Damien Sandow with Adam Rose the group would be better/more over with the WWE Universe. The only member I really liked before the group was Bo Dallas so I am glad he is seeing TV time besides losing on Superstars and Main Event weekly.

The group can’t really fail for the WWE business because they are taking four guys that had nothing going for them and putting them on TV. They have a common goal/trait so the WWE Universe can get behind them. I don’t know how many Heathy Babies, Rosebuds, Axelmaniacs or Bolievers are in the WWE Universe but I would assume the merchandise for the Social Outcasts are selling better then the shirts none of these guys had available at house shows or live events.

If the WWE gives these guys the proper push and has them doing something of relevance they could actually become a money making group. Throw them in the tag title picture and maybe even win the titles. So far the group has been entertaining and has seen some victories in the squared circle. The rap battle between Bo Dallas (Bo Rida) and Flo Rida a couple weeks ago on Raw was great and I honestly think you would give Bo the nod over Flo Rida.

The group is new so it’s kind of like the WWE’s new toy. You like it for a month and then get sick of it so we will have to see how the WWE books this group going forward. If given a small push and TV time I think this group will be able to do some entertaining stuff in the tag team division.

Would agree with that. Would be great to see them battle it out with the New Day for the tag-team titles, could be a real war.
