RJ’s Two Cents - Why WWE Should Have Given Kofi Kingston a WWE Title Run

The WWE had a prime opportunity to give the WWE Universe something new and something the crowd would like to see. Once Seth Rollins got hurt the WWE had the opportunity to put the WWE title on anybody they wanted. The WWE decided to take the obvious route and have Roman Reigns wins the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and Sheamus cashed in.

​The tournament should have included a New Day member specifically Kofi Kingston. Kingston has been in mid card purgatory for his entire career and his only meaningful feud against Randy Orton in 2009. He has been so close to winning the MITB briefcase a few times especially at the 2014 installment, which I was in attendance for. If Kofi was in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament he should’ve won since Sheamus won and is a placeholder for Reigns or Brock Lesnar.

The New Day are the most over act going right now in WWE and having all members of the New Day with gold. The WWE is a sports entertainment company and is lacking entertainment currently. Besides Kevin Owens going back and forth with people on Twitter, the only entertaining people are the New Day. Kofi Kingston is the most deserving superstar right now to win a WWE Championship and for a one to two month reign its something the fans would like especially over Sheamus. Kofi defending the title against Reigns at TLC would be ideal and have the New Day interfere to retain the title.

​At the Royal Rumble, Kofi Kingston vs. the Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar for the WWE title in a better match than the Beast in the East encounter than the squash these two had at that show. Kofi having the title would be a good rub and a thank you from the company for being a loyal mid carder for almost 10 years. Do I see Kofi Kingston holding the WWE World Heavyweight Championship before he finishes wrestling? No but I think it would be a better route then Sheamus as WWE champion after he’s been in the lower mid card for the past few months losing to Neville, Dolph Ziggler and the Lucha Dragons. The New Day as all 3 champions would be amazing and would make Raw 10x more entertaining then it currently is.
