Gail Kim def. Madison Rayne to Earn 3 Points in the World Title Series

Of all the women's matches we've seen so far in the tournament, this might have been the best bout yet. Kim and Rayne have always worked well together, but something seemed to click on this night and I thoroughly enjoyed it in the opening slot more than I did Kim vs. Awesome Kong in the main event a few weeks back. Kim scoring the win was logical as only she and Kong are threats to the vacant TNA World Heavyweight Championship for the ladies.

Eli Drake def. Jessie Godderz to Earn 3 Points in the World Title Series

I want to care about Drake because he seems to have all the tools to be a star, but viewers haven't been given a reason to care about him yet. He's just a generic heel, and the same can be said for Godderz. They're not bad in the ring whatsoever, but their character development has been lackluster to say the least. As a result of this being a heel vs. heel match, the crowd was quiet throughout, but if I had to pick one to go over, Drake was the wise choice.

Matt Hardy def. World Tag Team Champion Eddie Edwards to Earn 3 Points in the World Title Series

After Hardy won the world title in the main event of Bound for Glory last month, it's hard to believe that anyone has a chance of beating him in the series, but Edwards looked credible against him. They put together a very good matchup and I liked the Twist of Fate off the top rope off to finish Edwards off. Hardy should go far in the series considering he shouldn't have lost the belt to begin with.

DJ Z def. Mandrews to Earn 3 Points in the World Title Series

DJ Z and Mandrews are another two wrestlers I couldn't care less about at the moment, but to their credit, they're excellent wrestlers, so they had a fun bout. Mandrews still needs to work on establishing what his character is, but he's still a treat to watch in the ring. I enjoyed the match while it lasted, but again, it would have helped if either guy had momentum going so it would have mattered more.

Ethan Carter III def. Mr. Anderson to Earn 3 Points in the World Title Series

I've been liking all the video packages we've been getting for the main event matches each week and the one for EC3 and Anderson was no exception. Never at any point during the contest did I think Anderson had a shot of ending EC3's undefeated streak, but that didn't stop them from having a great match with plenty of suspenseful near-falls and counters down the stretch. EC3 winning via dirty tactics gave him effective heel heat while protecting Anderson in the process, so the finish was well-booked.

Overall Show

This was one of the better all-around editions of Impact Wrestling in weeks. I didn't particularly care for the DJ Z vs. Mandrews and Drake vs. Godderz matches, but if nothing else, they were well-wrestled. Meanwhile, the women's match was great, Hardy vs. Edwards was entertaining and the main event was above-average, so there's more than one match to watch for this week, all of which I'd suggest checking out.
