Matt Hardy def. Davey Richards to Earn 3 Points in the World Title Series

It's a little foolish for Hardy to be in the tournament when TNA could have easily given him a title shot against whoever the new champion is going to be, but then again, the whole World Title Series is foolish, so I can't say I'm surprised. In all seriousness, this was a very well-wrestled match. On a show that won't feature any feuds for the foreseeable future, all we can appreciate is the solid wrestling, and this was definitely one of the better bouts in the Series thus far. Granted, it didn't live up to its full potential, but it was an enjoyable opener.

Kenny King def. Aiden O'Shea to Earn 3 Points in the World Title Series

I don't know about anyone else, but it's difficult for me to take guys like King and James Storm seriously in this Series when you know damn well they're already gone from the company and worse yet, are working elsewhere now. TNA typically does a poor job of introducing fresh faces when they appear on Impact Wrestling, but following his debut at Bound for Glory, at least we knew a little about O'Shea coming into this contest. It was a decent match, but again, King winning made me laugh because it's obvious he won't come close to winning the belt given his current situation.

Abyss def. Eric Young to Earn 3 Points in the World Title Series

Remember when these two had a million matches against each other from late 2013 to early 2014? They're hard to forget, yet I don't believe the commentators even brought up their past history, which was strange. The match was fine for what it was, but I really wish they'd put more emphasis on Young. No, I don't see him as a main event player still, but losing clean to Abyss? Really? Whose coffee did he pee in to get that punishment? I was never high on Young as world champion, but Abyss beating him here was a head-scratching decision.

Robbie E def. Eddie Edwards to Earn 3 Points in the World Title Series

Fun fact: I've been following Robbie's career since his independent days dating back to 2009. Thus, it pains me to see him still doing this stupid gimmick. It worked when he first came in to the company five years ago, but it's been outdated for a while now and it makes even less sense when he's a babyface. The best thing they can possibly do with him right now is repackage him completely. He's a capable wrestler and I was glad he won this match because I want him to do well in the tournament, but the gimmick has got to go.

Mahabali Shera def. Crazzy Steve to Earn 3 Points in the World Title Series

I realize they're trying to push Shera as aggressively as possible as they prepare to head over to India pretty soon, but the guy is simply not good. His dancing character is awful (although he portrayed a heel here because he hadn't turned yet when this was taped), his in-ring ability is lacking big time and his mic skills are even worse. The two minute comedy squash was a total waste of time, but if nothing else, it was only two minutes so it didn't overstay its welcome.

Bobby Roode def. James Storm to Earn 3 Points in the World Title Series

Just when you thought Storm was gone from TNA for good, he's back! Not to say that's a bad thing because more of Storm is always great, but he legitimately left the company months ago, so it's sad he's still on TNA TV despite making his NXT debut last week. I assume we'll be seeing more of him in the Series, but this would have been the perfect way of capping off his TNA tenure. Roode vs. Storm is my favorite feud in the company's history because of how far they go back, and while this wasn't their greatest outing, it was fun while it lasted.

Overall Show

I'm sorry, but I just can't shake this Series for not making any sense from a storyline standpoint and that most of these matches have no meaning. Yes, they all center around the Series, but not all the competitors are worthy of being included and it's painfully apparent these were taped for One Night Only specials before they were restructured. I thoroughly enjoyed the Beer Money video packages and the entertaining main event, but nothing else was worth watching in my opinion.
