On Saturday, February 8, New England Championship Wrestling returned to the Cove Community Center in Beverly, MA for another night of exciting action and family friendly entertainment. The show featured two title changes, three tag team matches, an open challenge and much more. (VIEW PHOTOS HERE)
Headlining the show was the undefeated Sean Burke putting his NECW Heavyweight Championship up for grabs in a Triple Threat match against Antonio “The Promise Thomas" (FULL INTERVIEW HERE) and Slyck Wagner Brown (FULL INTERVIEW HERE). Thomas came close to capturing the gold, but interference from arch rivals Jeremy Prophet and Genesis prevented that from coming to fruition.
Taking advantage of an opportunity, Brown rolled Thomas up for the three count to win the NECW Heavyweight title, his first in nearly 13 years. Thomas and Brown shook hands following the bout, signifying a sign of respect between the two former friends.
In other action, Prophet and Genesis paired up to take on the dynamic duo of “Asylum” Nick Shepard and Brad Hollister. Shepard let his frustration for Prophet get the best of him, unintentionally getting himself counted out and deeming Prophet and Genesis the victors.
“I was just told (on) March 8th, I've got my wish, I've got one-on-one (with Prophet),” said Asylum following his loss. “The only reason why I haven't beat Prophet yet is because I haven't had the match. And March 8th, I've got the match.” (FULL INTERVIEW HERE)
Additionally on that night, Hollister will finally be given the opportunity to face familiar foe Jack Maverick. That event will also be hosted at Beverly's Cove Community Center with a bell time of 7 p.m., so be sure to visit necw.tv to purchase tickets at only $15 apiece and for other information.
