Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik vs. Akira Tozawa and Hideo Itami Ended in a No Contest
These two teams have had some fun matches over the last number of weeks, and this was another enjoyable encounter from them. What I've especially liked about their feud is that it feels like there is actually bad blood between them and they aren't simply having matches for the sake of having matches. The non-finish protected both tandems, and the aggressive streak shown by Itami toward the end was a nice touch.
Tony Nese def. Jonathon Pierce
Quite honestly, Nese has never done anything for me, and I believe WWE has had their chances to push him and failed to pull the trigger every time. He's a good wrestler and all, but he has basically been labeled as a lost cause by this point, so why should I bother investing in him? That being said, this was a fine little showcase him that allowed him to pick up a much-needed rebound victory. Let's see if it actually leads anywhere.
Buddy Murphy def. Kalisto
Murphy scored a huge win in a loaded Fatal 4-Way match on last week's show, so the question was whether he could continue building momentum with a win against Kalisto on this show. Sure enough, he did not disappoint (and neither did Kalisto), and they produced a hell of a main event. Seriously, this was stellar stuff and I was surprised how into it the crowd was because usually audiences are comatose for 205 Live. Coming out of this, there is no doubt in my mind that Murphy is getting the first crack at the Cruiserweight Championship following WrestleMania 34.
Along with NXT, 205 Live is now the most consistently entertaining hour of programming WWE has. The show has gradually been getting better and better by the week and this was an excellent episode overall with the tag teams furthering their feud, Nese getting back on the right track, Murphy and Kalisto killing it, and an exceptional video package airing that highlighted Cedric Alexander vs. Mustafa Ali at WrestleMania this Sunday. If you're one of those people that hasn't been tuning into 205 Live lately, you're missing out big time.
