Grayson Waller def. Andre Chase
The more I see of Chase, the more he reminds me of Drew Gulak, just based on his appearance and how he wrestles. Unlike Gulak, however, WWE viewers know nothing about him and thus he still bores me to tears. That said, this was a quality contest. I don't know who the crowd was supposed to cheer for, but from an in-ring standpoint, this was very well-wrestled and they worked a nice pace.
Ikemen Jiro def. Trey Baxter
It was interesting how Baxter went from being squashed by Ridge Holland on the NXT TakeOver 36 pre-show to having a competitive contest days later on 205 Live. I liked how that actually played into this match with Baxter selling the ribs and that playing into the finish. This was a fun match between two of the only Cruiserweights 205 Live has left. Jiro continues to be a treat to watch while Baxter is still trying to find his footing it seems.
if you couldn't already tell, the Cruiserweight theme of 205 Live is officially dead. Joe Gacy and Josh Briggs are having a rematch on next week's show and Cora Jade will be facing Amari Miller. I'm all for this program basically becoming NXT's version of Main Event, but they have to get rid of the 205 Live name and branding because it makes no sense. This week's show was solid with two decent matches. There's nothing to go out of your way to see, but the half hour of wrestling always flies by.
