WWE 205 Live Review - August 29, 2017

The Brian Kendrick def. Gentleman Jack Gallagher in a No Disqualification Match

205 Live has been known for its No Disqualification/"I Quit" matches in the past, and while this wasn't as strong as Kendrick's outing against Akira Tozawa a few months back, it was still fun while it lasted. I was glad they made good use of the extreme environment and Gallagher getting busted open (even if it was unintentional) was a nice touch. I was fully expecting Gallagher to win, so Kendrick going over in decisive fashion was a pleasant surprise. I assume this isn't the last we've seen of them against each other.

Rich Swann def. Ariya Daivari

This was slightly more entertaining than their match from two weeks ago, but to be completely honest, I'm a few minutes removed from watching it and I already forgot most of what happened. Swann is a great babyface, but Daivari just might be damaged goods by this point in being labeled as an enhancement talent, so it's hard to care about anything he's involved in. The real focus here was on TJP coming to Swann's aid, and although I initially thought that was meant to tease a babyface turn for TJP, it actually showed that he wasn't hurt after all.

Enzo Amore, Cedric Alexander and Gran Metalik def. Tony Nese, Drew Gulak and Noam Dar

I'm still not sold on Amore being a Cruiserweight wrestler, but at least like when he was teaming with Big Cass for so long, his weaknesses are hidden in tag team matches. He wasn't great whenever he did tag in, but on the bright side, he was largely kept limited and his partners did a majority of the work for him. Alexander and Metalik have had enjoyable matches with Nese and Gulak in recent weeks, so it's clear they have chemistry together and carried this contest. While Amore was fine here, he'll be forced to hold his own in the future when he likely challenges Neville for the Cruiserweight Championship.

Overall Show

Look for Amore to be prominently featured on 205 Live going forward given his popularity, and I'm not sure whether that's a positive or a negative. At any rate, the main event for this show was well-wrestled and furthered Amore's winning streak while Kendrick vs. Gallagher was a solid opener with a bit of blood mixed in. Swann vs. Daivari was serviceable as well, so this was a good show on the whole.
