WWE 205 Live Review - December 17, 2021

Sarray def. Lash Legend

This was an unfortunate outing. Even at four minutes long, it still sucked. Legend had a horrendous showing, and it's a shame because she really impressed me during her in-ring debut last week. You'd think someone as skilled as Sarray would carry her to a competent contest, but apparently not. This was a mess with several botched spots and an obvious lack of chemistry between the two. Sarray cheating to beat her was weird seeing as how she's a babyface. Worse yet, it looks like a rematch is coming based on Legend's post-match promo.

Valentina Feroz and Yulisa Leon def. Erica Yan and Fallon Henley

Props to Feroz and Leon working well as a team and starting to find their footing. They've definitely improved the last few matches I've seen them have, so that's a positive. Yan is passable. Henley is the former Tesha Price of AEW Dark fame. From what I've read, she's signed with WWE. There wasn't anything out of the ordinary about this match, but it wasn't nearly as bad as the opener and that's all you can really ask for from 205 Live at this point. Everyone involved did well.

Legado del Fantasma (Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde) def. Malik Blade and Ru Feng

There was no way Legado were losing here, but this did provide Blade and Feng with an opportunity to work with established talent (which is the only way they're going to get better). Granted, it was essentially an elongated squash, but they picked up the pace down the stretch and it was fun down the stretch. Blade has become a fan favorite among the audience in the NXT arena and it'll be a big pop when he eventually wins.

Overall Show

205 Live has seemed to hit its stride under its new format in recent weeks, but this was most definitely not one of the better editions. That opener was pretty bad and hopefully they'll learn from their mistakes in the likely rematch. The women's tag team match was fairly basic, but at least they got some time. The main event was the best of the bunch, but even that was decent at best. This felt like the most "developmental" episode yet, and that's fine, but it's nice whenever they can give us at least one quality match.
