Legado del Fantasma (Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde) def. The Bollywood Boyz in a Men's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic First-Round Match
Some matches with Bollywood Boyz are better than others, but this was pretty good for the most part as they held their own and Legado del Fantasma were great as always. The pace was constantly moving, even though some of the spots were slightly awkward. The outcome was never in doubt, but I wasn't bored for the near-10 minutes this went for. Needless to say, Legado del Fantasma advancing was the right call.
Drake Maverick and Killian Dain def. August Grey and Curt Stallion in a Men's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic First-Round Match
We haven't gotten the goofiness of Maverick and Dain in months due to their mini-feud with Pete Dunne, Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch on NXT, so it was nice to see them back at it here. I was scared when I read that they would be debuting new entrance music on this show, but it mostly sounds similar to the last one and it's catchy. It was a well-wrestled match but largely focused on Maverick and Dain and their shenanigans. The finish was clever and the duo of Dain and Maverick heading to the next round was logical.
It's cool that the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic is taking place on 205 Live in addition to NXT this year. These matches are less significant than the ones you'll see on NXT, but both of these bouts were enjoyable overall and it was refreshing to have stakes of some kind on this show. Maverick and Dain aren't 205 Live regulars, so they were worth tuning in for. More first-round action goes down next week as Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari battle Ashante "Thee" Adonis and Desmond Troy.
