Cedric Alexander def. Ariya Daivari
Alexander has been slowly building momentum since returning to the ring a few weeks ago, and I appreciate how he's moved on from facing enhancement talent to actual members of the 205 Live roster. This was a fine showcase for him and I'm glad he scored the victory, but I can't believe the Alexander vs. Noam Dar and Alicia Fox is actually continuing. Then again, I shouldn't be surprised considering they said it was over last week and WWE continued it anyway on Raw. Worse yet, the angle gets more and more annoying by the week and it isn't doing anyone involved any favors.
Tony Nese Interrupted Austin Aries
Why wasn't Aries' appearance on 205 Live and announcement regarding his future advertised on Raw? At any rate, he basically said he wasn't medically cleared to compete (not sure if that's legitimate or not) and he'll be out for the foreseeable future dealing with nagging injuries. Here's hoping he's in the heavyweight division when he gets back. I enjoyed his exchange on the mic with Nese, who desperately needs a personality transplant, and Gentleman Jack Gallagher was decent in his role as well. I know this was meant to set up a Nese vs. Gallagher match on next week's episode, but the last thing we should be seeing on 205 Live (the "most exciting hour on television") is an extended talking segment.
Akira Tozawa def. TJP
There was plenty of talk from the commentators about who the "real" TJP is during this match, which might mean he could be turning back babyface soon. It's only been two months! Regardless, this was a good, well-wrestled match, and it's a shame the crowd was quiet for a majority of it (and thankfully the "CM Punk" chants were quickly booed and died out). Tozawa's victory should indicate he is indeed next in line to challenge Neville for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.
Needless to say, 205 Live should be all action with a minimal amount of talking. That to me would be the best use of the program, because currently it's a waste of time that feels flat more often than not. As for this edition of 205 Live, aside from Alexander and Dar furthering their feud, we were treated to a quality main event and a somewhat newsworthy announcement from Aries, so the positives outweighed the negatives.
