Ikemen Jiro def. Ariya DaivariIt's very well documented that I'm no Daivari fan, and I'm honestly shocked he lasted as long as he did considering he was never going to make the main roster. You can say the same about Tony Nese I suppose, but I've always found Nese to be way better than Daivari. That said, Daivari has arguably been doing the best work of his entire WWE run this year while working with the new guys. This was another solid showing from him with Jiro impressing again. Jiro going over one of the longtime gatekeepers of the brand in the latter's farewell match seemed fitting. Grayson Wallar def. August GreyUpon getting the news earlier in the day that he was released by WWE, Grey hilariously tweeted that this had become a Loser Leaves Town match. Good on him for making the best of a bad situation. I've been following his career for years, well before WWE when he was still on the northeast independent circuit, so him getting cut disappointed me. On the bright side, he got to go out in style here. It was a well-worked main event, though Waller was on offense for a majority of it and won decisively. It was a big win for Waller and a nice way for Gray to bow out. Overall ShowWhat a depressing show. Both bouts featured talent that were released Friday afternoon. Yes, it made the matches more predictable, but that didn't bother me as much as WWE completely gutting its Cruiserweight division. Some of the people that were let go were a part of the program from the beginning, but others such as Grey, Ever-Rise and Curt Stallion were relatively fresh faces and could have mixed it up with the newer guys. Now, as far as I'm aware, there are only four men left on the roster, and it's all people that debuted this year (Jiro, Waller, Ari Sterling and Asher Hale). It's possible they add more guys like Carmelo Hayes to the mix to keep the show running, but it's also very possible this may be the end of 205 Live all together. Time will tell. From an in-ring standpoint, this was a quality show, but again, it was eerie watching it knowing the fate that met Daivari and Grey earlier in the day.
