Tony Nese def. TJ Perkins
These two seemed to be have some semblance of a feud a few months ago, but they never followed up on it on either Raw or 205 Live and I quickly lost interest. It was nice for them to receive a good chunk of time for a change, but while it was a well-wrestled match, it lacked importance and therefore the crowd couldn't have cared less. It didn't help that Neville and Perkins lost their respective Raw matches on Monday night, either.
Akira Tozawa def. Alex Reynolds
Damn, it didn't take Tozawa long at all to get his passport back. It was almost as if he never left the country to begin with... okay, I kid, I kid. The match literally lasted all of five seconds, if that, so there's nothing I can really say about that other than it was kept short and sweet. The feud between Tozawa and The Brian Kendrick progressed with Kendrick once again outsmarting Tozawa, so I liked how that was handled.
WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville Confronted Austin Aries; Neville def. Mustafa Ali (Non-title)
Aries' promo was fine, but it was basically a repeat of what we've heard from him in recent weeks and ultimately nothing new. The subsequent match, though, was a ton of fun and it accomplished a few different things. The first half was rather dull, but they picked up the pace nicely down the stretch and Ali shined toward the end. Meanwhile, Neville looked like a ruthless bastard when he appeared to be getting satisfaction out of inflicting pain on Ali. As I've said before, I expect Neville and Aries to kill it at WrestleMania.
The lifeless crowds continue to hinder my excitement for 205 Live, but it's hard to blame them after they've already sat through two hours of SmackDown Live and possible dark matches. At any rate, this was a decent edition of 205 Live with an average albeit forgettable opener, the Tozawa and Kendrick rivalry was well-furthered, and I enjoyed the main event quite a bit. Aries and Neville are the best things going on the program right now, but the rest of the division isn't terrible, it's just there.
