Drew Gulak def. Mark Andrews in a WWE Cruiserweight Championship Tournament Quarterfinal MatchAndrews always excels against wrestlers much more technical and aggressive than them because the contrast of styles is a treat to watch. That was the case here as he attempted to pull everything out of his arsenal to beat Gulak but to no avail. Gulak's PowerPoint presentation gimmick is great, but his last two matches as a serious Superstar have been awesome. I could very well envision him making it all the way to the finals. Akira Tozawa and Hideo Itami def. Nemeth Alexander and Scott JAmesTozawa and Itami haven't been featured on 205 Live since they were bumped from the title tourney last month, so I was happy to see them resurface here. This comes on the heels of the rumors of a tag team championship being introduced to the Cruiserweight division following WrestleMania, so perhaps this was the seeds being planted for that. Either way, they work very well together as a team and this was a fun showcase for them. Here's hoping they're a cornerstone of the Cruiserweight scene moving forward and aren't as overlooked as they have been recently. Mustafa Ali def. Buddy Murphy in a WWE Cruiserweight Championship Tournament Quarterfinal MatchI don't think it's a stretch to say that these two are among the most underrated athletes on any brand in WWE today, and as a result, this was a tremendously entertaining outing. Ali has really been able to show off his skills in this tournament while Murphy has been a revelation. The outcome was genuinely unpredictable, so I found each of the nearfalls down the stretch to be suspenseful. The crowd may not have been into this early on, but Ali and Murphy won them over in the end after an incredible effort. Overall ShowThe Cruiserweight Championship Tournament continues to be one of my favorite things going on in the entire WWE right now. It's so obvious 205 Live has experienced a change in management because this feels a lot like the Cruiserweight Classic from 2016 and I'm loving it. Needless to say, seek out the latest two tourney matches and you won't be disappointed. Both were two totally different bouts and each of them had something special to offer. After this episode, the semifinals are set and I believe will take place next week: Cedric Alexander vs. Roderick Strong and Gulak vs. Ali.
