WWE 205 Live Review - October 18, 2019

The Brian Kendrick def. Gentleman Jack Gallagher

Kendrick and Gallagher have been feuding for a few months now but never got to go one-on-one because Gallagher wasn't medically cleared to compete for a while. Well, that match finally came to pass here, and while it was well wrestled, it wasn't anything overly special, either. They tried, but I can only see these face each other so many times before it becomes boring. Kendrick beat Akira Tozawa last week, so it was only logical that he maintain momentum here by beating Gallagher. It's worth noting that Mike Kanellis randomly aligned himself with Kendrick last week, but that wasn't followed up on or addressed at all due to Kanellis requesting his release from WWE earlier this week. Oddly enough, Kanellis remains in the open for 205 Live even though everyone else who was drafted was removed.

The Singh Brothers def. Justin Alexander and Justin Morris

You know what 205 Live needs more of? Squashes with The Singh Brothers! Yeah, that will boost viewership numbers! Said no one ever. Seriously, this was dreadful. I appreciate the effort they put into their characters and I get the occasional kick out of them, but it's tough to take them seriously when I just saw Aleister Black beat them with ease in a 2-on-1 Handicap match last week on Raw. They haven't been back on 205 Live for very long, but I honestly don't know what else can be done with them now.

Tony Nese def. Oney Lorcan and Ariya Daivari in a Triple Threat MAtch

Nese and Lorcan have had established issues with each other for about a month or so now, but that's it. I thought that stuff was settled when Lorcan and Danny Burch defeated Nese and Drew Gulak twice in a row in tag team action on 205 Live, but apparently not because their rivalry was revisited here. And then Daivari was thrown in because... reasons. I enjoyed parts of it, but with nothing on the line, it largely felt pointless. Nese called out Lio Rush afterward, so that appears to be Rush's first feud as NXT Cruiserweight Champion.

Overall Show

To start the show, Drake Maverick (who will remain the 205 Live general manager despite his recent move to SmackDown) congratulated the Cruiserweights that moved to the main roster in the 2019 WWE Draft and noted that we'll be seeing some fresh faces from NXT on 205 Live in the coming weeks to make up for their absences. Isiah "Swerve" Scott and Angel Tarza have already been teased and Jordan Myles would be a fantastic fit as well. I was honestly expecting an announcement that the division would be merging into NXT in the foreseeable future, but that was never addressed. I'd be shocked if it didn't happen eventually based off how little depth the division has at the moment with so many people leaving. New stars may be on the way, but this show featured all the same people that have been a part of the division since Day 1. In other words, this episode was fairly forgettable and can be easily skipped.
