Toni Storm def. Ayesha Raymond in a First Round MatchI wasn't too familiar with Storm whatsoever coming into this tournament, but she has quickly become one of my favorites. Holy shit, does she have charisma! Not only that, she is incredibly skilled in the ring and has breakout star written all over him. Raymond did her best to elicit heat from the crowd, but she wasn't very skilled. Thankfully, this was largely a showcase for Storm who shined and advanced. Dakota Kai def. Kavita Devi in a First Round MatchKai initially impressed me when I saw her in action against a debuting Nia Jax about two years ago on NXT, so I'm happy she's finally made it to WWE as part of the Mae Young Classic. She's young and small yet feisty in the ring and her explosive offense was on full display in this match. There wasn't anything overly special about Devi, but at least she held her own in there. Bianca Belair def. Sage Beckett in a First Round MatchIt's clear Belair is currently a top prospect in the Performance Center and I must say she did a damn good here considering she doesn't have a ton of experience in wrestling. She has a presence about her to boot, so regardless of how far she goes in this tourney, she will be a player in NXT's women's division before long. To her credit, Beckett had a solid showing and deserves credit for her performance here as well. Piper Niven def. Santana Garrett in a First round MatchIs there any reason at all why Garrett isn't already signed by WWE? That simply blows my mind, and while she's sadly been eliminated early, she went out following a strong showing against Niven. The Scotland native may be bigger than anyone else in the tournament, but it's amazing how quick she can move for someone her size. The crowd loved this as much as I did and it could have gone either way. This was definitely among the greatest matches in the Mae Young Classic up to this point. Overall ShowRachel Evers vs. Marti Belle dragged down the quality of Episode 2, so this was a significant improvement with all four matches being a blast to watch. The main event in particular is worth going out of your way to check out, but the other three matches were well-wrestled and successfully got over the victors. Episode 4 is shaping up to be the best of the bunch so far with what's on tap.
