By Graham "GSM" Matthews United States Champion Kalisto def. Heath Slater (Non-title) We've seen Kalisto against several members of The Social Outcasts in recent weeks, leading me to believe WWE has zero idea how to utilize him at the moment. Then again, it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out based off how they've been booking him as of late. Hey, at least it's better than sticking him with Sin Cara in tag team matches on a regular basis. On the bright side, he and Slater worked very well together and had a nice little matchup. The finish with Kalisto running up Curtis Axel on the apron to hit the Salida Del Sol on Slater would have been cooler had I not seen it twice before in the past month. Apollo Crews def. Bo Dallas When was the last time someone stuck around after their match and issued an open challenge, tying into the subsequent match on the show? It's the little things like that that make Main Event feel more meaningful some weeks. Crews made much quicker work of Dallas than Kalisto did Slater, but Crews was able to showcase his skills more effectively that way. The crowd was receptive toward all of his signature spots and it was another solid win for him. Kevin Owens def. Dolph Ziggler
Yes, most of the match was made up of Owens on offense by keeping Ziggler in a headlock, but it might have been the most entertaining headlock I have ever seen. Only Owens can make something so simple so great. Beyond that, the second half of the matchup was a lot of fun, though you can't expect anything less when it's Owens vs. Ziggler because they have such awesome chemistry together. The final few minutes were fantastic, but the best part of the whole show came afterward when Owens seemingly destroyed Rich Brennan's iPhone. Classic. Overall Show This was a pretty enjoyable edition of Main Event on the whole and definitely one of the more well-rounded shows in some time. It's well-established that The Social Outcasts are a guilty pleasure of mine, so I liked the first two matches not only for their involvement but because both bouts seemed to serve a purpose. The evening was capped off with an excellent match from Owens and Ziggler, so this is certainly a show worth seeking out.
