Mansoor def. Akira Tozawa
Mansoor was back on Main Event yet again, which means he's officially a mainstay on this show. He continues to impress and I like how the commentators are acknowledging his two-year undefeated streak. I say this all the time, but at some point, he's going to have to be given a title shot of some kind. He still improving, but he can't be beating undercard talent forever. This was a nice little match with Tozawa continuing to bring the best out of his opponents.
Angel Garza def. Drew Gulak
I don't remember these two having the chance to have many, if any, matches against each other when they were both on 205 Live in 2019. I think Garza debuted right after Gulak lost the Cruiserweight Championship and moved to the main roster. I wasn't expecting to see this on Main Event because they're both heels (I believe), but I'm so glad we got it because this was a hell of a match by Main Event standards. It was hard-hitting and they worked with a sense of urgency. I'm aware almost nobody watches this show anymore, but I appreciate it when those who still do are treated to the occasional gem such as this.
WWE announced a bunch of releases today and I'm happy none of these four were among them. I'm shocked because the company clearly doesn't have any plans for them, but I'm happy. This was another perfectly solid edition of Main Event with Mansoor extending his undefeated streak and Garza and Gulak having a very good match that is well worth checking out. Needless to say, those two deserve a lot better.
