WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day def. The Ascension (Non-title)

I remember a match between these two teams from a little over a year ago and I believe Ascension scored the victory. That was when WWE was high on the act and was aggressively pushing them. What a difference a year makes. I typically don't care for Ascension matches more often than not, but New Day managed to make this entertaining with their hilarious antics. They contested a solid matchup and the crowd was behind them the entire time. With The Dudley Boyz seemingly moving into a program with Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady and League of Nations feuding with The Wyatt Family, I'm curious as to who will be next to challenge New Day for the WWE Tag Team Championship.

Baron Corbin def. Fandango

I realize it's only been a few days, but I'm digging WWE's booking of Baron Corbin thus far. He made an immediate impact upon arriving on the main roster by winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32, decimated Dolph Ziggler on Raw and Fandango on Main Event, and cut a cocky promo on SmackDown. As long as WWE doesn't lose faith in him any time soon, he can go far as a monster heel in WWE. This wasn't much more than a standard squash match, but it showed that Corbin is gradually getting over as a heel in front an audience that didn't know who he was a week ago.

Paige def. Emma

I really appreciated Paige bringing up her past history with Emma during her backstage interview with Renee Young, making this match more meaningful in the process. This was also the perfect show for them to do battle on (other than NXT) because you know they wouldn't have been given the same amount of time on Raw or SmackDown. I enjoyed the match on the whole, which came as no surprise given how well they work together, but was it just me or was Paige loudly calling out spots? It was blatantly obvious in the first few minutes of the match and toward the end as well. Maybe that always happens and I just didn't catch it until now. Other than that, a very good match from the NXT alumni.

Overall Show

The post-WrestleMania hangover was in full effect on this show as we were treated to a fun tag team match, the Main Event debut of Baron Corbin, and a superb women's bout. Plus, you can never go wrong with an appearance from The New Day. All that said, it was an above-average episode overall and well worth going out of your way to see. Just expect things to go back to normal for next week's show.
