Alberto Del Rio locks in the armbar on Cody Rhodes.
By Graham "GSM" Matthews World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio def. Cody Rhodes (Non-title) This was a great match that featured plenty of exciting action and showcased both Superstars' amazing abilities. Rhodes hasn't changed much as a character since turning face (it's high time he shaves off that damn mustache), but he garnered a surprisingly strong reaction from this live crowd. Del Rio was aggressive as usual and the many counters down the stretch made the final few minutes very suspenseful. I didn't expect Rhodes to go over the world champion, but he still looked good in defeat. The Usos def. Heath Slater and Drew McIntyre 3MB means next to nothing, so I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that the live crowd wasn't completely dead for this match. It was fine for what it was, but since The Usos were on offense for a majority of the match, the focus was primarily on building them up (as it should be). The finish was well done and gave The Usos another nice victory under their belt. It's good to see that they are still over with the audience despite no longer being in the tag title picture. Big E Langston def. Justin Gabriel Gabriel has appeared on WWE Main Event more times than I can remember, so does that make him Mr. Main Event? Anyway, this was essentially a squash match used to get Langston over. It was absolutely necessary after he embarrassingly lost to the duo of The Great Khali and Natalya on Raw for no apparent reason. However, this more than made up for it and Langston's domination of Gabriel was fun to watch. Take nothing away from Gabriel, though, who sold well for Langston and also looked good coming out of this bout. Overall Show If there's one match you should go out of your way to see if you happened to miss it, it would have to be the opening match between Rhdoes and Del Rio. The other two matches were enjoyable, but nothing too special and didn't feature anything out of the ordinary. That being said, this was a pretty good episode of Main Event that helped build towards SummerSlam on Sunday.
