Kane def. Local Athlete
I completely forgot Kane was a part of the SmackDown brand until he resurfaced here. And I say that as a good thing. He doesn't need to be on TV all the time and he doesn't serve much of a purpose at this point in his career unless he's putting other younger talent over. That said, he's fine for a filler match on Main Event, and this was as quick and harmless of a squash match as they come. For the record, Kane's opponent was named Ricky, but I couldn't catch his last name.
Baron Corbin def. Rhyno
I was happy to hear Tom Phillips on commentary acknowledge the long history between Corbin and Rhyno as rivals and as opponents from NXT last year. They are a rare set of big men that can have pretty solid matches together, and this matchup was no exception. Rhyno can be very useful in working with the fresher faces on SmackDown, and Corbin should continue to build momentum. Am I the only one surprised that, as of now, Corbin vs. Kalisto hasn't been added to the SummerSlam card?
This was a straightforward show with Kane making short work of a local athlete and Corbin and Rhyno contesting a competent matchup. We had only seen it once or twice in NXT, so it is a relatively new match. The hour flew by as a result, but then again, I skipped over the Raw recaps and watched merely the matches, and I suggest you do the same.
