WWE Main Event Review - August 19, 2021

Jaxson Ryker def. Cedric Alexander

We've seen this match on Main Event at least once before and it pained just as much this time as it did that time to see Alexander lose to Ryker. Of all the roster cuts WWE has made in the last year, I'm honestly shocked Ryker is still there, and even Alexander for that matter seeing as how they clearly don't have any plans for him. Alexander is very talented and Ryker is at least passable in the ring, so they had a perfectly fine match with the outcome I knew was coming but still dreaded anyway.

Ricochet def. Angel Garza

These two always work well together and this was no exception. The only difference between this match and their other encounters in the past is that this actually had a crowd in attendance, which definitely made it more enjoyable. Garza is great and Ricochet is consistently a treat to watch. I just wish WWE did more with the both of them, but that's nothing I haven't said before. This was fun stuff while it lasted.

Overall Show

Any match involving Jaxson Ryker immediately loses my interest, but thankfully his bout with Alexander was decent. They're pretty much Main Event mainstays at this point. It is funny that Elias is getting more airtime on Raw nowadays with his apparent repackaging than Ryker, who beat him every time they faced off. Ricochet vs. Garza was obviously the better bout of the two and made this a solid show on the whole.
