WWE Main Event Review - August 25, 2022

Doudrop and Nikki A.S.H. def. 24/7 Champion Dana Brooke and Tamina

It's another week where the 24/7 Championship is still in existence and another week where it should be abolished. Nonetheless, these were the two losing teams on the Raw side of the bracket in the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship Tournament, though they'll have another chance to qualify for the semifinals in a Fatal 4-Way tag team match on Friday's SmackDown. Brooke and Tamina are not very good at all, but this was perfectly passable. I was hoping last week's loss for Doudrop and Nikki A.S.H. would lead to them splitting up and Doudrop becoming Piper Niven again, but no such luck (or at least not yet).

Mustafa Ali and Cedric Alexander def. Shelton Benjamin and T-Bar

Benjamin has been a babyface since he and Alexander split up, so I liked the attention to detail throughout with him and T-Bar not being on the same page and that ultimately costing them the victory. I'm glad they got some time to work because this was a very good match. Benjamin and Ali work really well as partners and I hope their Raw appearance on Raw last week will not be their last. This was fun stuff and the crowd was into the action.

Overall Show

The Canadian crowd was hotter for the second tag team match than most crowds are for matches on Main Event, but not even they could give two craps about Brooke and Tamina vs. Doudrop and Nikki. There's nothing to see in that one, but the men's tag team affair this week was very enjoyable. Those two bouts averaged out to a solid show on the whole. I don't stick around for the Raw replays, but I thought Raw this week was a great show, so the replays may be worth watching this week in case you missed Monday's episode.
